My name is Sarah, I’m Aboriginal. My nickname is SJ!

WHAT DOES SELF ADVOCACY MEAN TO YOU?

I don’t know, a lot of good friends, I’m with 3 Self Advocacy groups and each one of them I have great friendships with the people and we have a lot of laughs.

HOW DID YOU HEAR ABOUT RAINBOW RIGHTS?

Dean kept talking about it at Bass Coast group and I joined later. I kept listening to the Anthem and I joined a few years later.

TELL ME ABOUT YOUR SELF ADVOCACY GROUP?

Which one you want me to talk about. My sa group is RR, and I’m with Bass Coast New Wave and I’m with New Wave Rainbow Pride, a new one just started.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT SELF ADVOCACY?

It helps a lot with a lots of things, helps that way, talking to somebody to find out a few things, know your rights and things.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO IN YOUR FREE TIME?

I’ve got two fur babies, Tiny and Dolly. Plus I go out fishing, I do some artwork.

WHY IS RAINBOW RIGHTS GOOD FOR YOU?

I met some great people, met down in conference down there, great mates and friendships. Helps a lot with different things.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN WITH RAINBOW RIGHTS?

I don’t know, maybe……I don’t remember, about 3 years, 2020.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT RAINBOW RIGHTS?

We all work together to get what we need and want. We have a focus to see what happens. There’s a lot of things that we’ve done.

IF YOU WERE PRIME MINISTER WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO CHANGE?

Ongoing funding to all New Waves across Australia, have the Voice in parliament.
